This Domestic Gas Foundation Course Stage One – CCN1 + Appliances is a 6 week course aimed at and available to all those with recognised Plumbing Qualifications such as an NVQ or relevant industry experience. Domestic Gas Foundation Course Stage One (2 weeks)
Domestic Gas Foundation Course Stage One – CCN1 + Appliances is the ‘in-centre’ Classroom Theory and Practical training with one of our dedicated and highly qualified Gas engineers . They will cover all the sections of Gas from Core Gas Safety in CCN1, to appliance specific procedures such as CKR1 (Cookers), HTR1 (fires and space heaters), CENWAT (Central heating boilers and water heaters, formally CEN1 and WAT1) and also MET1 (Domestic Meters).
Working to Logic Certification requirements of theory and practical training, there will be numerous subjects covered in regards to CCN1 and General Gas Safety such as:
- Pipework Installation and Sizing
- Emergency Procedures
- Unsafe Situations
- Tightness Testing and Purging (Domestic Related)
- Locations of Emergency Isolation and the Regulations surrounding this topic
- British Standards
- Basic Testing Equipment
- Chimney Inspection, testing and regulations
- Open Flued Appliances
- Flueless Appliances
- Room sealed Appliances
- Relighting and reintroducing Appliances to Gas Supply and the procedures involved
- Landlord Gas Safety Certificates
These areas will be covered along with many more vital topics you will need to know when working with Domestic Gas and Domestic Appliances. You will also be able to get plenty of hands-on experience with practical exercises on various appliances, both in the training centre itself and when working on live jobs outside the centre under the close supervision of qualified Gas Engineers ( Stage 2 of the programme) . Appliances Such as Open Flue Boilers, Covered by the CENWAT code, open flue and flueless fires covered by the HTR1 Code, and Domestic cookers covered by the CKR1 code. The ever-present trainer will be there to answer any questions you have, covering topics such as:
- Safety Controls and how to test for them
- Flue Flow Tests
- Spillage Tests
- Tightness Testing
Following on from this is stage 2, where you work with one of our Gas Safe Registered engineers to gain practical experience and complete your on-site portfolio of evidence.
